Terroir Ink: What's in a name?

Terroir (pronounced terwarr) is a French word describing the unique characteristics wine grapes acquire from the locality in which they are grown. Geography - soil, climate, topography - plays an important role in determining what the wine will be when you finally pour a taste in your glass. In other words, terroir is a sense of place. Of course, cultivation methods make a difference too, as does the winemaker's magic touch. These elements of production have a sense of purpose - the production of drinkable wine.

In the same way, the mission of Oregon publisher Terroir Ink is to publishworks that have a sense of purpose and a sense of place.* We want to produce readable contemporary novels and story collections with engaging stories and characters you'll care about as they journey towards self-discovery.

Most of all, we hope Terroir Ink publishes books you will savor and enjoy as you would a good glass of wine.
